PERSONAL PROFILE of TERESA A. (Terry) O'NEILL
Owner of Anansi Weavery

Catalogue Retrospective Resume

Anansi StudioI have been living in Alert Bay with my husband and two dogs since 1985.  During that time my weaving has been primarily rugs, tapestries and wall-hangings.  Currently some of my weavings are displayed at the Working Hands Gallery in Alert Bay,

In addition I have become involved in computer graphic designing for both my weaving and website development.  The high-tech and low-tech skills compliment each other and enable me to get the best out of both mediums.

calendulaThe weavery is fully equipped with two looms and facilities for doing my own dying of wool.  On the loom at present is a design loosely based on the calendula flower.  I have also been weaving a few jackets, experimenting with wool and cotton combinations,

Over the years my style has evolved, leaning to the use of bold patterns and bright but natural tone colours. In my wall-hangings for various churches I have tried to use a universal symbolism accessible to all. This has come to be reflected in many of the designs incorporated into my weavings.
